Tradition of Whaling in Faroe Islands

By the people on the island are descendants of the Vikings and management of whaling called 'Grindadrap' which is held annually as a tradition carried on for a thousand years ago. Despite being watched and was opposed by animal welfare groups throughout somehow most of the whales hunted by the pilot whale (Pilot Whale), which will swim closer to the coastline.

Nevertheless, the Faroese whaling do not go down to the fun. To limit the amount of whale hunting, but not too much because such whales eat fish, the primary source of food on the island until the end. Because of the cold climate of the island makes agriculture difficult and not enough demand. Whaling as it is hunted for food but without the meat trade to the outside community or non-profit. When the meat to the locals to divide the meat evenly to keep it in the family and the conditions that made the movie with leather and fuel.
